Hi
I've just become the proud owner of an old Splitty.
It's an Austrian made Nitro called a SnowHow. Beautifully made and in pristine condition. Hard plate Fritschi bindings that slot in and out of ride/tour with precision engineering at it's finest.
Came with Nitro bag, Nitro skins in a Nitro skin bag and Nitro telescopic poles.
I'm completely thrilled with it.
Anyway, it's likely to date from the mid 90's i'm thinking.
Does anyone out there have any more information on these boards?
Now I just have to find the right one-peice to match!

Nitro brought these to market during the 93-94 season. I believe it was a collaboration between Nitro and the Snowhow company, which was an early Euro splitboard company. I found these vintage pics of the board and people riding it (linked below). I'd love it if you could post some close-ups of the board and its interface system.

Yeah, it was 93-94. Here's a good overview of the board, complete with close-ups of the board and the interface system. I love how similar the shovel shape is to some of the "new" pow shapes - like the Chimera Mace and the Jones Hovercraft.

I'd be really interested to see some specs on this if you have the time to measure it - especially taper, shovel and waste width. Careful with those Fristchi bales, they were prone breaking (like most bales of that era).

I have one of these too, but not lucky enough to have the poles and skins.
Mine is a 169 and like you said the plate binding setup looks like it was made by NASA.
Ther only prob is the heal levers are not that great , but I dont think I will give it a try on the Mountain, one for the collection.

Yes that's the board in those shots, mines red though. Mines a 169 and in better condition than that one!
Now I'm going to ask a dumb question...
Measuring a splitboard, how do i do it? Half or whole?
Binding bales..hmmm I agree, that's why I'm reluctant to ever use it. That said it's spent it's entire life in a bag, so UV has not been working it's evil way on the plastic. Should I?

By the way, am I missing something here, how do I post photos? I can't see the appropriate button..

Thanks for posting pics and board dimensions - I really enjoy seeing the early split designs up-close. How interesting that the Nitro is almost 1 cm wider at the tail than the shovel.
