Buckles go on the OUTSIDE!

Interesting to hear that others have had same issue in the past. I rode another burton split for a few season with a split kit, and did not have the issue.

I have not heard back from BurtonScott (board engineer who private msg'ed me here last week...)

Looks like I will need to rig the nose clip up - or maybe I should send er back for a refund?

It's the factory splits over the last 2 or 3 years.

My Voile Mojo 166's, from like '09, tip clip come apart when riding really hard and choppy stuff. I'll have to figure out a solution for that. Good suggestions on the board though so I'll just have to implement one that works for me.

I remember seeing your post but it's not an option for me because I don't have the hitching post. I thought about adding one but don't really want another hole in the board.

Rode 3000 vertical feet of icy death crust yesterday on Mount Shasta.
A. The freebird rode fantastic for the conditions!
B. My new stiff boots+blaze bindings contributed to performance and ability to ride the 3k with taking 1 break to gain composure.
C. Icy death chatter caused immediate popping of nose clip AND TAIL CLIP.

I'm going to try rightsider's nose clip suggestion, except going to use zip ties instead of rope/line to tie off.

Anyone encounter this problem while using the karakoram clips? Im still waiting for my freebird... Looks like ill get mine in about a week.

I fondled it at SIA and it felt fuggin SOOOOOOFT.. I was dissapointed.

I rode the 58 last week and it is definitely softer than the old s-series. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to control the board much more which made it unbelievably playful. The weight difference was the first thing I noticed, its much lighter.

I'm looking forward to spending more time on it.

I'm a big dude though, seems like a skinny guy board for sure, e.g. Kyle Miller and JimW.

Ha yeah, I thought the s-series was stiff and unresponsive. I weigh 170 fully dressed. I love feeling my board push back, that never happened on the s-series.

What about size?? I'm new to splitting and ride a 161 for all mountain and a 164ish for POW and bigger lines. I'm very interested in the Freebird because I dig the shape and price, but am a little bummed they don't make a '64 or '66. I'm sure the 162 will perform well in pow, but am concerned that it might be a little small and/or soft when pointing it down something steep and sketchy and I need stability.

I'm 6'2" 175 lbs, should I save up some more duckets and get something different/bigger? Like I said, I really like the shape, perhaps more so than Venture Storm, Helix, etc, and I like a light, freestylie ride...

Any thoughts????
