Looking for a partner to hit up Banana Couloir on Sunday. I've been up Ross Pass four or five times and summited the peak once in summer. I'm a good snowboarder of 20 years but probably qualify as a newbie in the backcountry.
My guess is the ascent is going to require an ice axe and obviously a strong set of lungs. I recommend we ascend (yellow) climbers-left of the couloir (to minimize avalanche exposure), find the couloir from above and descend via the couloir (red).

Thanks for the replies, y'all. I went up to Bridger Bowl on Saturday and the snow had the perfect density to make for a pretty epic day. Good regular in-bounds riding as well as two spectacular Ridge laps (both North and South).
I've been fighting a cold and since I didn't get responses from the four people/places I requested backcountry partners from I decided to take Sunday off. I have a friend who also has Banana on their wish list so we're going to do it in the following weeks. I can envision I may be a little let down like you say, Lifelink, but Ross was the first peak I climbed when I moved to Bozeman so that line holds a special place in my heart.
