Sunday morning hike somewhere volcanic near Mammoth
afternoon backpack in to Pika Lake from Lake Mary
drink booze and camp out

Monday hike out
Lunch at mo mart
drive back to yay area

Right now just the two of us, pretty last minute trip. Others welcome to join in! PM me for information

Just saw your trip post, Im in LA but you get the urge for a trip like that again let me know. Mammoth area would be kool for me.

That was a funny bump last week. But it reminded me to put up some photos.

Sadly, I forgot to pack my camera memory card so I don't have any shots from Twin Lakes/Sawtooths/Matterhorn, but I got a memory card at Rite Aid and got some photos from the Duck Pass Trail just off of Lake Mary in Mammoth. Here's a few of the nice ones.

It was a pretty trail.


We camped at Pika Lake, and found a funky hut built into a large boulder down off to the left.


It was gorgeous but freaking cold and windy - nice layer of crunchy frost in the morning ...


... so cold that I had to build a windbreak.


But it warmed up that morning for some pretty views from our camp ...


like views of a line I'd like to hit some day.
