So i am flying into denver from seattle for my first ever trip just for snowboarding. I dont know much about the area other than the snow is different from the cascade concrete (not that i havent been lovin it this week). I was thinkin about taking a train i read about online to winterpark from denver. but i was hoping for some tips about that idea or suggestions otherwise. I coming for thurs-tues of presidents day. BC probably out since i am ridin solo.

I've never personally taken the train before, but I've heard you won't be on the slopes till closer to 11 if you take that. I am sure one of the front range guys would be more than willing to take you out on berthoud.
I've taken the train a few times. The first two times I took it I was there around 9-ish. The last time, due to heavy snows we got delayed by all of the other rail carriers having been stuck the night before. Just about every other rail user has priority over the Winterpark Ski train. So if the trains got stuck the night before it could be a long wait. We didn't get there until well after 11am.
The nice part is you can get bowling alley drunk on the way back to Denver. Hopefully you'll have a hotel downtown or you'll need a cab...

I have never taken the train to WP, but I've heard similar stories to those posted below.
Be warned: President's Day weekend is very crowded at any resort! Especially WP, Keystone, Breck, and Vail.
If you think you'll have the opportunity to make it up to Aspen (about 3-4 hours from Denver), hit me up with a PM. I'll be riding both in-bounds and BC that weekend.

Depends on the weather. If it's snowing hard and the wind is blowing, Winterpark is a much better place to ride. Loveland doesn't have much in the way of tree cover and pretty much sucks in those conditions. Otherwise, it's a fun hill for sure.
