Jack, that is a harsh equation. With that as a restriction you still seem to hit the shit out of it when you get a chance. All of your TR's show you submerged in nearly limitless powder, so week day or week end you know where to get it good.

Went to steven's today and rode alone. It was actually pretty nice to ride inbounds by myself for a change. Snow was pretty good, but it didn't make me feel anybetter. Had to call in sick again. will try again tomorrow. Anybody want to go out for a tour tomorrow? I seriously have to be back to bothell by 5 pm. Can get an early start though.

ale_capone,
I'm working late tonight but able to make a go of it tomorrow. I may be tired. I probably can't get out of the house before 6am after getting the family ready and off to daycare/work. If you let me know details here or via PM I will get home, pack my stuff and then check back in.
Why only one of the dynamic duo?

didn't get your PM a_p until this afternoon, was at Stevens as well. Had a good day overall. Snow was much better on 7th than the backside.
That's totally cool. I really did have a good time today not having to worry about 'where we are going' or where everybody was doing.. nice to just get out and flow around.
I agree seventh heaven had teh best snow. I still had to go explore around and prove it to myslef. Did find some really good pockets of loven all over the place. ... MAybe next time.
Not sure if anybody is interested or has the time off, but I'm looking to climb/ride St Helens the week of the 24th. As of now, I'm planning on whatever days look best from the 24th to the 27th, with 2 days for the climb and being prepared for a third. Some combination of the Worm Flows/Monitor Ridge routes is the plan.
Let me know if you think you're interested.

Double check that they plowed the road to Helens. I read (here or somewhere else) that there was 7 miles of unplowed road to get to the snow park. Who knows if they plowed it finally - might have just been them unable to catch up with the big dumps we got last month.

Climbers Bivy at 3,800 ft is most likely unplowed. That way is no fun anyways. Lots of ups and downs. Go via Worm Flows from Marblemount Snowpark at 2,700 ft. Much more gradual and you can board to the car from the summit. Close to a 5,600 ft descent. Watch out for the slednecks in the beginning. However, from this route Monitor Ridge will be a long traverse back that will involve some elevation gain but you also get another run.
Personally I would wait for a ridge of high pressure, rising freezing levels and light winds before heading up there. You might find some rime blasted bubbly ice. Then again you can always go check out the Shoe String on the east side. Also a long skin back though.
Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

Yeah, it's a bit up in the air right now as both sno-parks are closed and the road isn't open past the 83/90 junction. So it looks like it might make it a 5-6 mile skin into Marble, then climb, then ski/skin back out. So it will also be pretty weather dependent.

Hey guys, my wife and I have been trying out the splitting thing for the first time this year. We've been hanging out mostly around Crystal (Bullion Basin, Norse Peak areas) and made a trip to Baker. Unfortunately, Meg doesn't care much for the steep stuff, so I was wondering if anyone has some decent "mellow" areas they'd recommend. Thanks a lot.
Oh yeah....we're in the Tacoma area.
So the St Helens trip never really materialized, mostly due to length. So, anybody interested in ditching work/school to go riding this Tues, Weds, or Thurs. I'm good for anything from Rainier to Baker.
Somewhat firmer plans ... I'm probably going to be up at Snoqualmie somewhere tomorrow. Likely Chair Peak Basin.
On Thursday, I'm looking at Paradise/Van Trump Park/Tatoosh. Give me a call if you want in.

I am contemplating Hurricane Ridge (if the gate opens) on the splitter, or using my pass at Stevens or going to Crystal. I need to ride, inbounds or backcountry. I probably can't leave the house until 6am from the Kingston area, but I'm willing to go just about anywhere reasonably reachable.
