Anyone interested in joining a midweek 3-4 day trip at the end of January or the begining of Febuary? I have room for three, maybe more. Need to know by October 29 to insure that all forms and waivers in for November 1 lottery. For more info check it out here http://www.sequoiahistory.org/pearlake/pearlake.htm

Are you still pursuing this? I'm somewhat interested, work schedule permitting.

How bout Ecobrad?

I'm definetley interested but don't want to commit this early. What if there's no snow? I'll put it on my calendar and check back when the date gets closer.

I still think a sled/camp trip in Mineral King would be the shit. Tons of BIG mountains within a few miles of camp. And being a sled trip and all, camp would be the shiz.

Eco - I've been dying to visit Mineral King in the winter, but never thought it possible because the road up there is infamous even in the Summer. Hmm.. maybe sleds are the solution. Although I wonder if the road is safe in winter or avy prone. Actually, I think it would be a really cool Sierra traverse to summit Whitney from the East side and exit via Mineral King. I've never really looked into the logistics though because the Mineral King road is so infamous. The Pear Lake lottery was Nov. 1.

People sled the road into Mineral King all the time.

There will be plenty of week day slots available for Pear Lake Hut.

Check the Pear Lk. calender for available dates. http://www.sequoiahistory.org/pearlake/calendar.htm

We got the 24, 25, and 26 of January, we have five in our party and right now room for five more the first two nights and room for one the last night.

Anyone?

BTW their will be snow!

Are you sure about this? I'd like to confirm this 100% before our attempt.
As soon as we get some snow, it's on. If we have to break our own trail, you're going to need a few lessons. See you at Sherman Pass....
It's not as wicked as up north but the Yurt their is free and there are some good spots, all depends on snow levels.

Do you have 50 Classic Backcountry Ski and Snowboard Summits in California: Mount Shasta to Mount Whitney? I've never sleded it but the book makes it sound like a regular occurence.
