Heading up to the Sierras for a long weekend and am dying to try split boarding. Two novice gals looking to tack along with anyone headed out on a less advanced mission. We'll be renting equipment but are regular outdoors people and think the experience could be better if we had some folks to join. Let me know if your heading that way and where you'll be and we'd love to join you!

Careful out there ladies, still pretty thin to be riding even after the 1'+ they got earlier this week.
Certainly some split-touring to be had but not much riding unless you have equipment you're not too concerned about.
If you want to tour, try the lakes basin. Drive all the way up Lake Mary Road in Mammoth and start where the winter closure begins. Just stay to the left of the groomed x-country ski trails.
You can also skin to Minaret Vista which has a winter closure just past the main lodge of the ski area in ML as well. Enjoy and be safe
Mammoth Mountaineering Supply may have rentals and good beta.

Mammoth Mountaineering might not be renting out spiltboards yet. I was there a couple weeks ago, and they said they're waiting for more base. They don't want core shots on those brand new demos yet
But as sdmarkus said, definitely stop by the shop and have a chat w/ the crew, they are all helpful and full of advice.
Have a great weekend! Maybe we will see you in the backcountry this season!
