Just finished first splitboard tour up to Red Cone in Mammoth and addicted. Went with a veteran of the area who gave me plenty of tips and I was skinning pretty well in no time. Did some technical areas but nothing extremely bad. Side stepping, traversing, got most of it. Now just need more time on the split. I loved it and looking to meet with like-minded folks. The ride down the bowl was awesome but almost secondary to touring the beautiful mountains. Let me know who does local trips in SoCal but also wants to get up to the Eastern Sierras.
