During the week of Jan 29-Feb 6 I am hosting some splitboarding friends from Colorado.
As of now, ther is no plan other then to give them a grand tour of the best there is to offer in the Washington Cascades. Will be looking to tour around Baker, Crystal, and the S passes. All DOC of course.

Not so much looking for partners as just creating a place for dialogue. If you are local and want to hook up, speak up. Could use some local expertise and hospitality outside of stevens pass. Specifically Baker and Crystal.

If any of the fellas coming to town have any special desires, peeves, medicenal or dietary needs, let me know. Like, do you want lift served and hike the arm if it's going on? prefer to yo yo pow? Or tours over turns? all of the above? are you Vegan? do you have glaucoma?

Feel free to reply by PM as well.

SNow pack is getting phat. So stoked, can't wait to see you guys!

My dietary needs involve massive amounts of powder every day. Other than that, I'm not too picky.

Here are a few questions- 161 Mojo or 158 Helix-R? Glacier gear i.e.- crampons (or ski cramps) and harness needed?

Looking forward to meeting you and checking out the Cascades!

Fuhrer Finger, Coleman Headwall, Shuksan N Face, etc. Joking aside, I'm cool with pow laps. But if conditions allow it would be fun to get in a longer tour or two and possibly get up on a peak. Some steeper slopes/chutes then what we get to ride out here in winter would be ideal. I wouldn't be opposed to winter camping either. A day riding baker slackcountry would be good.

Stoooked to come to ride the cascades with you Ale! :guinness:

I'm down for whatever you think is going to be good. Powdery steeps would be my preference. Not sure about the winter camping thing. I don't really want to have to lug that much gear out.

Bagging a peak would be rad. Shuksan would also be rad. Lot's of pillows a must...

Right on. I'm feelin it.

Hopefully with some good fortune it sets up something like this week.

How about a compromise with some car caming? we might have to slum it up in the heather meadows lot at baker for a night or 2. I pretty much have you all covered, but you might want to bring a sleeping bag just in case? I have 1 extra, and 2 sleeping pads, and tent+interior of suv.

I'd say as far as glacial or climbing gear. Ice ax and pons? Usually I carry some sort of rescue gear. I don't think we will be doing anything where a rope team is necessary. It's up to you guys if you want to bring full glacial gear, and wear a harness.

I'm gonna pick up some stuff for sushi on the way to the airport.

Bags fly free, but we need to get them from the airport to ales crib and beyond. something to consider. I can definitely throw in a sleeping bag and pad, if we are heading towards baker we would be better off spending the night instead of commuting. Cheap hotels would be another option.

My only concern about winter camping is my sleeping bag (15 degree). Other than that, I'd love to winter camp, just not sure about buying new gear like a -15 bag. So Baker- a cheap hotel might work for me. I might go ahead and get -15 deg. bag if I need to.

But yeah, Shuksan would be rad, a peak or any sort, pillows, steeps, massive old growth tree riding... It would be cool to ride some steep stuff in powder. Not an option we really have in Colorado.

I have to admit, I'm not a big shushi guy though.

Love Sushi.

I have no problems springing for a cheap motel near Baker. In fact, I think that is the way to go. You all start to stink after a day on the mountain...

I can pack my Ice Axe and Crampons no problem. Better to have them and not need them.

check.

ed's dietary needs; plenty of pow, and no raw fish.

I'll be picking up in a escape with a thule, so there should be enough room. Maybe just a little cramped.

One of the bigger concerns is dry gear, and drying gear, and stinky wet gear. I am setting up a station in the garage. IF we aren't with that luxury, you might want to bring extra dry goods.

I'll see if I can do some checking for cheap accomodations near Baker.

Shuksan.....

Thanks for the offer. Ideally, we will be around Baker and Crystal midweek, but weather is going to dictate everything.

awesome news!! as I typed the above sentance, my good friend Richard called. He said we could stay at his dad's farm house in van zandt, about an hour from Baker. No one is there, as many days as we like.

very cool unique off the grid place.
