This first shot is for OCD, I tried to pack my gear a bit better, not perfect.


Now arriving at Kingston, all walk on passengers must disembark via the overhead walkway (Jon Dahl sighting)


90 minutes later we arrive at Hurricane Ridge with the report of 42 degrees with most peaks and valleys visible (not my idea of clear)


A quick and short skin up from the parking area to Sunshine Ridge, Jon sitting at our top mark of 5500'


Destination down and west, avy report says nothing NE, E or SE, so we head west and try to see how far down we can ride. The snow was soft and nice corn, very moist and slow so it was hard to hold speed and not go flying over the tip when the slow sticky stuff arrived.


A little crappy video, a Mumbles staple, Jon arriving from the first pitch and then mumbles filming with his camera in his hand, always a bad idea.


We got down from 5500 to 4230, well below the bowl where they run a surface lift, following a nice drainage well below where we thought we could ride. Now what, we are way down here? Time for VERTS!
My heart was pounding so hard up this very steep and very long vertpack I could only manage this at the top as it flattened out to reveal the target top ridge where we would skin back for lunch.


Jon says he was working hard too, a few of the stretches he said were more than 40*, my pounding heart believes he was right.

It rained on the vertpack up, lightly, but constantly. a few pinwheels were seen and released as we verted, but overall it was quite nice and stable. After the rain and effort expenced this lap was our only one.

Here is the route we took Red (skinning) Blue (riding) and Black dashes (vert packing)


Not as impressive as any of your TR's but pretty hard earned turns for us. Lots of snow will be bringing us back for more routes on later days.

Ya, it was a nice easy PNW day, complete with the obligatory drizzle. Probably safer than any of the other places we'd discussed last week. The spot I'd wanted to do was releasing naturally on most aspects Saturday, so I scratched it. There was a couple hundred feet of 35-40 degree Vert action, enough to get my 50 y.o. heart workin'! Ah, the ultimate stairmaster!

OCD is not impressed. (hey, I can type in 3rd person too)


Jon appears very well organized and ready to go. Although, one split ski extends higher than the other on his pack.

One ski extends a bit due to puck angles on both feet...nature of the beast. Considering the number of boards (3) in the back of that little Pathfinder, not too bad this time.
