So after taking my son snow camping recently his younger sister has been wanting to go too. She's never been snow camping but has been backpack camping with Dad for years so I knew she'd do fine. We had a great trip, here's our pics.
I had written the trip off due to unsettled weather but when Saturday rolled around Haley woke up raring to go. We took our time getting ready and finally hit the road around 1pm. The first stop was Safeway for some food where I accidentally dropped my G9 camera in the parking lot. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until we got to the trailhead. I had a back up so all hope wasn't lost and as it turned out somebody turned in my camera to the store. Good karma rules.
At the trailhead we're greeted with snow showers. Dad's a little nervous but it seems fitting for her first snow camping trip.
5 miles in at the meadow Haley takes the beast for a spin, she loves riding the snowmo!
From the meadow its smooth sailing to the lake...but no more crossing/towing on it.
The bridge
Past the lake we start to gain elevation and the sun peaks it's head out for us
Camp
No shoes in the house
Not a single complaint from Haley even amidst the less than ideal weather, she's loving it
After setting up camp Dad returns with water and firewood
Tent time and dinner with my baby girl
By 9pm she was out
I wanted to take some night pics so layered up and headed outside, sure glad I did!
Self portraits by the fire
I may look lonely but luckily my buddy Jack (daniels) was there to keep me company
Dumping
Looking west and down to the lake
It was super windy that night and we had an issue with spindrift blowing into our tent but all was well by the morning, it was beautiful
Loaded up and heading out
Haley grabs some turns on the way out
The snow was thick and wind effected but she did great
My little ripper
Down at the creak the last snow bridge is barely hanging on
From here it was an easy ride out to the car and then to In and Out for a double double.
We met another Dad on the way out with his two kids too. Good peeps.
The trip was short but sweet and I'm grateful for the memories we created. I love you Haley!
