I never did quite understand why they put that building where they did... And another thing that I don't quite feel right about is people; paying customers, getting buried and killed inbounds. Thats fucked up. I'm not saying there should be any lawsuits, but what the fuck!?

shredhead, Whenever someone dies, it sucks for sure.
At JHMR a large percentage of the terrain within the resort boundaries is avalanche terrain. Locals know and accept this. The resorts Ski Patrol is one of the best there is. The fact that there haven't been more deaths is a testament to that.
There is only so much you can do with explosives. Opening the runs are the objective of course. There is a Catch 22. If you don't get that stuff skied then dire consequences can happen. As was the case, getting it skier packed is risky as well.
Dave Nodine knew there was risk in the riding he was doing that day. He was wearing an avy beacon.
