So I decided to head up to Berthoud Pass today to do some exploring. I've only gotten one day BC so far this year so figured it would be more exciting than going to Loveland ski area.
The hard part was rounding up someone to head out with me. After calling everyone I know who would be willing to do some hiking I went to bed planning to go by myself. Luckily, the person I originally planned to head out with called and it was on.
It has been a pretty slow start to the season thus far, so I knew it would be a matter of finding some northish facing stuff hoping there was still some solid snow it.
standing on some rocks looking for best possible line.
this could work
buddy, thought it was a sweet shot
this was the route
then dump into here where the snow looked pretty soft and sheltered
siqq pants
scenic
i think my buddy just did a point
guess this dude was thirsty
wind drift drop while i was eating my sandwich
another view of the objective
view of our tracks after the top portion
view of middle portion
obstructed view shot of lower portion
then the coverage went to shit
little bit of pow
took a break at this little spot
looks like winter
thats a lot of photos with nothing going on, but guess it can give you colorado guys an idea of current coverage.
