This ain't my TR. I think Steepy is livin out of his pickup and shuttling tourists down rivers in CO, so he asked me to post this. A 14r and some WI3 seem pretty good TR material.
Mt. Antero N Face 5/11/07
From Steepy "...after 5 years of waiting for the right conditions, I finally got up on Antero's N Face on 5/11 and found a route through it. Heres the specs, 5200 vert, made up of a low elevation N facing 2000 ft. avy path, then I hit the ridge, and traversed/ bush whacked into the main drainage. Skinned up the drainage untill hitting the steeps, then donned crampons and ice axes for the crux, about 80ft of 5.4 and WI 3 climbing. Then up up, traverse, and up to the summit. About 2 ft. of snow fell 4 days earlier, so the direct N aspects were still holding settled powder. It was corn on the E'ly aspects, w/ ice in a steep section. I found a route around the main water ice on the way down, but had to take my board off and traverse a little ways to get to it. Awesome route finding on this adventure! Steepest pitch that I snowboarded was about 50 degrees. I was able to ride all the way down to 500 ft. above the road on the way down, pretty hard conditions to get on this peak."
