Sunday, October 11th. I convinced my brother, who currently has the swine flu, to drive down from Crested Butte to ride The Grande couloir in Velocity Basin. This line is actually "in bounds" Silverton Mtn. terrain during the season. Silverton is not open and the line had enough snow to slide on so we busted out the splitters and grabbed an awesome early season line.
The Grande is roughly 1500' vert. and roughly 35 to 40 degrees of really fun goodness.
Here's the line. (photo from two seasons ago in May)
Obviosly it wasn't nearly as filled in yesterday as it was when the above photo was taken but early October turns are always a good thing.
My brother on the skin up.
2/3rds of the way up.

The top, and my beloved weapon of choice.
Action on the way down (all photos are of my bro.).
Hope you enjoy the early season stoke. If it's snowing where you live, go get some.
