All the stars seemed to be in line this past Sunday. A previous week of warm temps helped to settle the often dicey snowpack. The day dawned sunny and warm after a quick two inches fell the night before. The crew consisting of myself, Ryan, and Dario set out to tackle a line we have all been drooling over for quite some time.
After making great time on the approach and gaining the ridge we broke for snack time. Note Bald Mountain in the background (future site of new TR).
An added bonus for the day was the lack of wind which we commonly face on our ventures around these parts, especially along the Continental Divide. This made for a relaxing day out. Making our way to the summit.
After a few ski cuts and stability checks it was "game on"! Myself, Ryan, and Dario.
After re-grouping we sent the rest...
Can you say STOKED!
To avoid some possible thin coverage and talus, we did a short boot traverse over a subridge and continued down another small bowl to the creek. Definately some of the best turns any of us has had around here.
We finished the day by travelling another 1600' down the forest access road to the truck in split mode! Sweet day, thanks guys!
Last picture = I cant remember the last time I did a constant untracked line that long. So many turns, such a good chance to really get to know the board underneath you. By the end of that run you'd have moved well past first date status with your chosen ride. Great.
