Headed out on Thursday with dishwasher dave to do some splitting. The day had all the ingredients of a great day (weather and company) with the exception of good snow. Regardless of the snow (or lack there of) it still felt great to get outside and get some exercise. Good to catch up with you too dave!

Here are some still pics, frame grabs, and viddy.

Terrible furking snow aside, it was a good day. In a 'normal' year we could have skinned to the top and made a lap in the time we spent skinning over rocks and hunting around for something carveable. A couple of times, I think we both just started laughing at the situation...

Perfect timing on this report, BCR. I think you and I may have been inspired by the same 'tip.' Your TR showed up an hour before I left for Tahoe on Saturday evening with the idea of visiting that same area with LikeToRide. We, uhm, changed our plans.

Instead we climbed an obscure and difficult-to-access peak known as Gun Notch by some people. It was a beautiful day and we found commanding views of the entire South Lake Tahoe area when we got up top. My favorite was this view straight up the middle of Desolation Wilderness:

Image

You can see Echo Lake in the middle with Ralston and the Crystal Range on the left, Pyramid in the distant middle, Echo Peak to the right of the lake and Tallac on the far right.

The ride out was TRUELY EPIC in 0" - 24" of wet, heavy sugar snow mixed with rocks and stumps. Fun day, otherwise!

(PS - Funny video. That is what it feels like around here these daze.)

Nice work BCR - I hit up Sonora Pass on Saturday via the sled.

Lots of goods up there to be had. I only saw maybe 5 other sledders, seems very easy to avoid. Pop over one ridge and you're out of bounds anyways.

The rangers up there are in full force on some sweet brand new Po-Po Polaris

Ouch! That is some seriously boney terrain! You cats in Tahoe are hurting! I respect that are still getting out and keeping a attitude about the whole thing. :D

That shot of Dave skinning over bare ground made me cringe (and laugh out loud  ) You must have found a little stash of something to be poppin' off that little drop. Nice still capture.

Keep prayin' for snow. We can definitely use a re-up here in the Northwest too.

rode the flying couch to the top of a local west shore resort then skinned over the shoulder of ellis pk. to where only slednecks and film crews reside. we found some soft snow but mostly wind super buff. few miles covered for about 15 good turns. coverage was not bad, hopefully the storms on the way help out
