Langille snowfields, July 19
We parked the car at Cloud Cap trailhead on Wednesday morning around 7AM. Hiked up the east moraine of the Eliot Glacier. Half an hour later just below Cooper Spur we reached the snow. It was surprisingly good thus the temperature in the Hood River Valley are up to 90F lateley. The suncups were mellow and not an issue at all while skiing. We found the legendary "Butter" even in the lower elevation until we reached the Timberline Trail 600.
Enjoy the pictures
Mt. Hood from the eastern Eliot Moraine
Navigating thru some crevasses
Entrance to the Langille snowfields below Snowdome
To perfection ripened summer corn
A little portage between the upper and lower Langille Snow Fields
St.Helens, Mt.Rainier and Mt.Adams on the horizon
This one gets us down to the Timberline Trail
View back to Hood
Back on foot and hiking boots
Washed out bridge at the Timberline trail, but a massive snowbridge will work as well
