After spending Sat. catching up on the "List" around home I had to get out Sun to try & catch a line I wanted to get the previous weekend but got rained out.
Nice firm boot-up - the dog's having a little trouble getting a grip though
Looking down the run - sorry - no action photos - was a solo day
The waterfall I had to jump to get down
After getting past the waterfall I had to look back. Snow had been perfect corn all the way down. While looking up I ran onto some super hardpacked old avy deposit which enabled me to rocket suddenly into a large rock before I could get turned ::: the result
The death of an old friend . At least now my wife can understand why I need a new splitboard
Bummer/Stoked... Sad to see your old friend go down, but I'm sure you'll be stoked to make a new acquaintance soon!!
Not to hijack your thread, but here's my weekend 'ooops'...
I pulled off the road to take a picture of the gorgeous blue ice on Caples Lake, which doesn't show in the photo. There was a ton of snowmelt running in the asphalt gutter along the road. I guess the water had eroded about a foot of soil from under the gutter because just as I came to a stop, my left front tire broke through asphalt. You can't really see it, but my rear tire is 8" in the air. I had to wait a few hours for the tow truck, but the driver wenched it out in about 3 minutes.
It may look bad, but losing your split is much, much worse. I have AAA, so there was no charge for wenching my truck out of the hole and it seems to be running totally fine. It just made for a long day...
Jimw - liketoride and I did the Red Lake Peak shuttle on Saturday. Next time we should coordinate. The snow is going fast, though.
