Sorry no photos, I always have to forget something, today it was the camera.
If any of you have been watching the weather satelite images, you would have noticed the big comma shaped low pressure parked over northen Arizona. So, after ~30" of new snow I grabbed the split and headed for a hill I've had my eyes on for a while. The skin in was a forest road that had been packed down by a snowcat(???? like why the fu** did a snow cat come out here????). The storm was letting up this afternoon, and the sun was breaking through between heavy snow showers, really cool scene. Once I cut off the road, breaking trail was bitch, the boards were sinking over a foot deep! Some probing showed drifts almost five feet deep, and no less than two feet deep. I got to the top of the climb and looked north only to realize that I'm on an adjacent ridge, and after some choice swear words, I had to abort mission. Anyway, the run down the slope I climbed was pretty fun, some nicely spaced trees and BOTTOMLESS POWDER! It was nice to get out, and next time I know where I'm going. Maybe a topo map?
