Lassen 1/28 & 29/2006
In attendance: fassnor, knucklesplitter, puff natty, pj
We drove, we skinned, we struggled, we rode, we smiled, we had fun.
Two great storm days at Lassen. 1.5-2 feet of semi-cascade concrete.
No big lines were done, but did manage to top out on No Name Peak on Sunday with very low visibility, high winds and a little sketchy climbing section.
Saturday ended up being the better day becasue the snow was lighter. Started getting wet at the end of the day. Sunday started out with some opening in the clouds but quickly turned to low clouds, wind and snow. Pretty typical for Lassen. Snow became dense and heavy which increased the avi hazard.
Sunday, we dug a quick pit on the upper east flank of No Name on a NNE slope in an area that was not getting the brunt of the windloading. Yielded a CT 16 failure down about a foot. A lower crust layer another foot down didn't budge. Rode the southeast treed slope off No Name.
No riding pics. Just too stormy.
Saturday morning at the lot. It was super crowded.
Sunday morning at the lot. Diller in far background.
Diamond Peak from the lot.
Fassnor, Knucklesplitter and Puff Natty skinning up toward Ridge Lakes.
