We descended from the highest skiable point on mt. Hood yesterday. We found thigh deep stable pow, with some semi-dangerous wind loaded spots, overall some of the best snow conditions I've found on the summit of mt hood.

Pretty rad to get a 5,000 ft. Extreme run on October 3rd!

we got up early in the morn

Boy-o do i feel lucky for being able to partake in this very special day. every mt. hood summit descent is a special run, but this one was much more special for a multitude of reasons.

I'm glad your Wed/Thurs window paid off in spades. As I skated with the kids to school. You popped up in my ramblin' mountain daydream. I figured you'd take advantage of conditions. Thanks for the pics & words. They fill a few blanks in my daydream.

Well played on the SW chutes also. We're you able to wheel up to Cold Springs?

Safe Travels, CR :guinness:

Yeah, we got shut down on Rainier, so contemplated north to Baker, or south to Adams. Adams won out. Looks like you got better snow on Hood. Thursday was the day, bet scheduling issues left us with a creamy Friday. We've got to shred this year Chris.

We made it to about 1/4 mile from the trail head. I'm sure it's melted out enough to make it now.

I know someone was bound to get up there with the recent dump. Not surprised it was you Chris. I was on my way to fish the Sandy river on friday and caught a glimpse of Hood. Pretty awesome that storm shaped things up for the upcoming season.

The PNW! Chris you're looking in mid season form. You and Schralpinist...that's some speed on the ascent!

Not to dwell on a sensitive subject but nice hard boot styling!

I've been contemplating the change over and that kind of helps me believe its somewhat possible.

So good!! Oh soooo good.

I'm jealous. The move to Tahoe has so far turned into a trail running misadventure.
I miss the PNW.

Keep rippin!

dont worry there cascadeeagen,

while tahoe may not have the vert or the year round shred that the pnw has, the powder, steeps, chutes and the lake will more than make up for that. i lived in south lake for many years, i miss that place!
