On Saturday I climbed with the splitboard on top of a classic M.Rosa, Western Breithorn 4167m on the border between Italy and Switzerland. A trip easy but at high altitude that must be prepared with a bit of training
The conditions were amazing thanks to heavy snowfall of the previous days, I found powder snow for over half way with a descent from 2200mt of vertical drop to the village of Cervinia (2005mt). Very low temperatures in the higher part below -10 degrees and great sunny
The route runs on many types of terrain: from the glaciers at the top with the immense plateau steeper low channel up to the incredibly snowy woods yet.
I have met many skialp on the route, just because so much of the only window of good weather after weeks of bad weather..
