There has been a lot of complaining about the lack of snow in VT this year. We had a great stretch from late December through early January, but since then, the temps have been on a roller coaster ride and we've seen minimal snow. There was a ton of hype with Winter Storm Nemo, but truth be told, the big costal storms never play out well in Northern VT. We managed to get 8-10" from Nemo, but the following week saw several small low pressure systems pass overhead and create terrain induced snow along the spine of the green mountains. Over the course of the week, the higher elevations received well over a foot of snow, if not close to two feet. This made for a great excuse to avoid the crowds at the resort and stay in some of Vermont's highest terrain for a few days.
With another foot+ forecasted over the next few days, we should be riding some of the best conditions of the year - at least on the upper half of the mountain. Down low still needs several feet.
Keep your eyes peeled for DTK Episode 3.1 in the next few days! We got a ton of good footage from when it was good earlier in the year. I'll be sure to post it here, but you can also follow us on Twitter & Instagram (CheckYourPins) or on Facebook (Check Your Pins).
