On 14.05.2013 I did one of Austria`s longest couloirs in awesome conditions.

I started solo quite lately at 8 am. After 40min. (250hm) I started skinning on hardpacked snow. After further 700hm (hm=meters in high) I reached Niedersachsenhaus. From here I rode down to Bräuwinkel, the bottom of the 3 couloirs (left, middle, right), which rise up to Schareck. I took the middle couloir which is the easiest one. It is about 900hm long and between 40 and 45° steep. Normally you have to climb it using crampons and ice axes but this time it was different. Due to recent snowfalls at the last weekend there were about 30cm of fresh pow and it was possible to totally skin it up. At 1 pm I reached the summit of Schareck (3123m). The descent was great, powder in May is a seldom gift in Ausria. The way back including 250hm skinning didn`t matter anymore, I was so lucky.
