You are truly a bad ass and inspirational and you make me feel as if i am an unmotivated whimp.
hopefully ill be spending some more time up in the highway 2 area soon and give you a big high 5 for this one.

This thread is useless without pics.
KIDDING!!
Nice writeup. I know the feelings of which you speak. Though personally I hope to never find myself hanging off a single bolt rap in the dark in a snowstorm.

Gripping and inspirational Scott!! rap of of a single piton!!
I really like all of your contributions here.
I find it super cool that I can meet you (or someone like you) and only ride 1 day together, but have a kinship through sharing the backcountry together.

thanks a ton guys. sorry for the long delay. still processing....
Utah and Eco. I have mutuall respect for you guys. you know. maybe more then you know.
so..
John wrote his version. pretty simular, but his accounts of the rap sequence varies. I would trust his word on this as he was more intimate with each sation since he was setting them. there actuall snowboarding pics in his report!
Still not sure how high above John I was when the anchor blew. there was that odd moment of wieghtlessness. then, i dunno. instinct, luck, divine intervention...
"faaaack..."
john joked later that it wasn't the blood curdling scream you would expcet, but more like a 'what the heck now?' annoyed sounding curse.
i 180'd from facing the hill, and hit the snow arete john was on, feet first with way to much speed. fall right.. and in a flash of headlamps and pow , went into the hidden couloir head first.
i think i head john yell something... arrest? heh..
I'm sure you've all been here. that tomohawk moment. you kow you are the mercy of gravity. you just kind of go with it and wonder. which is going to hit next,, head, feet? when.. here it comes.....
STuck!!
, i landed up rigth facing the hill hill with all four points of contact firmly planted. wow. lucky fucker.... JOhn yelled down that he had the rope, and pulled up the slack. i asked him for tension while i inventoried myself. just a little bump on my elbow. John downclimbed to me and we gathered our stuff and went to a little protected spot the side. It was suddenly eerily clam. no more wind, the cascade of spin drift was gone. the hidden couloir rode just as well, and some how sweeter then the othe two.
when john exited the hidden couloir I could hear his whoops and screams echoing all around. soon I joined in and we both did some much needed anxiety release riding until we neared colchuck lake. we stopped for a hot cup of coffee and a chat. black coffee never tasted sweeter.
sorry about the lack of photots. I did finally locate my camera! so at least I should be able to suplly something next time..
for a euro's eye view. I think this was from justa day or two prior..
