Leave El Paso headed for Jackson... 18 hours arrived in the Tetons



15 December

Headed up to Teton Pass to get a few laps in and wake up the legs... the pass was pretty hammered but we found some nice untracked snow in the trees off the nose

16 December

It's snowing and we're off to the park. Headed up Wimpy's and it kept dumping! 2 powder runs were a sign of things to come...



17 December

After a bit of a late start decided to slog/break trail in over a foot of fresh up Shadow... hours later we were rewarded with some excellent GFP....

After the all day slog in the park we lapped it at the pass

Headed over to Taylor for a day off

Headed back to the park for this run

Went up to this canyon to hit a line we saw from Disappointment the other day

Back at the pass for another day of rest- Ended up doing the bowl tour from the top down to below the taylor lot.

Powder day at the pass again. Deep runs down Glory's NE Ridge, Coal Creek, and a lap on Taylor

Sunny powder day on Wimpy's for Christmas followed by gourmet dinner

This line is kinda eye catching especially with a couple feet of fresh- It was a bit of a difficult boot, but probably the turns of the trip

Took a tour up a canyon again and found ourselves at the base of this- We booted up a bit and didn't really like the stiff windslabs and the one eerie collapse, and therefore bailed on it



Still got the firmness in the Cave

We had to head back to the desert but we took one quick lap on Shadow




Wow, I've just completed my first TR! It took about as much effort as I expected so I'm not sure how many more I will post. Sorry about the skier photo's but 513A can likely rip better than many of you, and can fix your broken bones too! Enjoy the winter as I'm off to the east coast for a bit and 513A is headed out to fight for our free-Dom we enjoy in Americuh!

Hey great job guys, you completed a season worth of shredding in a short time. I noticed you did not mention names of the lines in the park. The first one is the spoon couliour on disappointment peak, the second big line was the west the hour glass on Nez Perce, the third was the sliver on Nez Perce and the one you bailed of off was the ellingwood couloir. Nice work.

Nice work nailing it on a condensed trip. Looks like conditions are prime (until the next snow)!

Nice post! Just rode the Sliver yesterday in less-than-optimal conditions yesterday... looks like you hit it right.

Yeah, that was a good trip for sure. I have never experienced such a good combination of snow and stability in Jackson, especially in December! I didn't put the names of the lines down as I was once told that that is a very bad thing with rumor of severe consequences for posting of such information on-line (FYI, if anyone needs any wolf creek pass information shoot me a pm). The sliver was supposedly pretty "firm" before we hit it. We got first tracks after the recent snow and it got hit hard with wind and people after that. Oh, and we are not from Texas, just spending some time there!

Good on ya for showing respect, and generally I agree (esp for Bozeman area stuff). But for Jackson two things kinda destroyed that idyllic notion- Turiano's (awesome) guidebook, published in the late 90s, and Steve Romeo's http://www.tetonat.com/ . In fact if you go to Steve's site you can find each of the Park lines in your photos named and depicted on a little list under "Teton Descents". As well, the GTNP lines depicted in your photos are more or less "trade routes" known to pretty much everyone who skis up there (not saying this to downplay your Teton send-a-thon at all, just offering perspective). But to each his own.

Also- here are some photos from my Sliver jaunt a few days later. Your conditions are definitely enviable!

Nick, I was not trying to show respect for anything. I was being sarcastic and trying to display a lack of respect towards some coloradtittude that we encountered at Wolf Creek Pass last winter (and previously in north Routt County, CO). I was advised in both locations that internet write ups are bad for "their" areas. We spent a day at Wolf Creek Pass and had the zone figured out without a guidebook or internet advice, and found the local's "stash". Jackson is busy and well known for a good reason, and I don't think the Turiano book has much to do with that. I spent a couple winters in Bozeman, and can't say that blackmore is a junkshow because of the Turiano book. I think that a line/area/range/zone/peak's popularity, and trade route status to a lesser extent, is based on quality and ease of access.

FYI-at least your bootpack up the sliver probably did not consist of as much wallowing as ours!
