First trip of the season!!
The first two major snowfalls, one in late October and last week have deposited a good snowcover on all the Western Alps. Over 100 cm of snow up to medium altitudes. So I took a free day and an hour's drive went in a beautiful valley for the backcountry of the Western Alps, full of classic trips for winter alpinism. The Varaita Valley, ITALY
My destination in the valley is the Colle Vers (2870m) from Sant'Anna di Bellino (1820m)
The trip I've done is spread over about 1100 m of vertical descent and about 6 km in length, therefore does not address steep terrain, but with the snow just becomes a long descent and fun. Despite the temperature some high for the season the snow has remained incredibly beautiful and powder.
