The picture shows the SAR skinning. I don't get how it could take so long to get to these guys when they know where they are, and to have turned back when they spotted them less than a half mile away. Obviously I wasn't there and don't know the circumstances, but they make camp muir sound like everest or something. Just goes to show what can happen if you're inexperienced and unprepared.
This is a total arm chair observation....I notice you guys rockin pretty small packs? Is it a far stretch to assume there's no bivy, proper 1st aid kit/rescue gear, or insulation layer in your packs?
Good on you for making it out of there before storm came in.
I had all of that. Call me over prepared but whenever I go somewhere I'm not familiar with I always plan on spending the night (emergency situations).
