Wanting an adventure and to get some August turns, ChronicRacing and I headed over to the North side of Mt. Hood to check out the Snow Dome. We left the suburbs around 6:30am, were hiking out of the Cloud Cap Campground before 9am, reached the top of Snow Dome around 2:15pm, and were back at the car before 5pm. It was a great day, an awesome experience, and the only thing I could think about at work today!
Here are some pics:
Word on the street was the creek crossing washed out.
Ohhhh wasssup dawg!!!
Looking to the Northeast.
Getting Closer...
Stoked to see the first cracks!
As we reached a shelf and a crevasse field on the Elliot Glacier the stoke was toned down a bit... Chronic scouting a line accross.
Gnarnia
Success.
Crevasse rescue groups were practicing all day.
Now we go up.
Looking back at the crevasse field we crossed on the Elliot Glacier .
Higher up on the dome.
Gnarnia is GNAR.
Chillin' at the top of the dome.
Chronic making some turns on the upper shelf of Snow Dome.

Nice work guys! Looks like a good way to spend the day! This time of year the crossing on the Eliot gets kinda tricky. Glad you got across w/no issues and found some good turns!

Late and lame response by me, but a fun day and good turns. Crossing the glacier was about as sketch as I was comfortable with, but with the right partner and good vibes things worked out! Cheers
