So no splitting, but some riding all the same. Thinking of heading up to Snow Dome at some point, late August or Sept...
Did some good MTB riding on Saturday. Up Dog River to Surveyor's Ridge. 30 miles of good views of Hood's North side. Still some snow up there...
Took an old friend visiting from NY up to Timberline on Sunday. I think the last time we rode together was some slide hiking in the Adirondacks in NY, or at Tuckerman's Ravine in NH, years ago. He grew up racing alpine boards, so I lent him mine for the day. Good times up there, especially in the afternoon after the ski racers clear out around 1. They take the lanes down and you can really open it up on the Palmer. They add lots of salt to the snow during the day and during grooming to keep things firm.
Not a bad way to spend the day when temps in Portland were in the 90s.
