It helps to have friends in very high places...who own one of these Being a pilot myself it didnt take much time to fly from the California coast to the sierras around tahoe After a short emergency stop at the Jackson airport so the pilot could use the "facilities" ,otherwise known as the side of the runway, we were back on our way. As it turned out we flew 6 more minutes and landed at Placerville where we acquired a car and shot up the pass. We were figuring on Echo Lake but the wind was howling and the snow pack slimer than expected and not being ready for the long hike to BCriders pond skimming secret nirvana spot we instead drove to my own not so secret spot and managed to do this And this Once we got back to the airport, a quick 45 minute flight and we are back home in Monterey just like that. Nothing spectactular but a nice day trip just the same. Looks like Lassen is next on my radar since my pilot buddy owns a house and has a car at the airport on Lake Almanor. Life was good for one day
