DISCLAIMER: So I avoided naming specifics on my blog post of this adventure, but I sure would love to see some more regional splitters hit this place up with me (nomad? dln? brett? samh?), so I'll "spill the beans" on here! Only shots of skiers too, due to aforementioned lack of splitters... but figured this place was worth sharing anyway.

God bless the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The holiday weekend just as easily could’ve been filled with Hawaiian shirts and sunny corn laps on Beartooth Pass. Instead, the Pass stayed closed as multiple feet fell, leaving myself & the usual suspects (plus a new face) to seek a different fortune. So we ventured elsewhere, always keen to utilize late spring’s unique combination of seasonally open roads and still plentiful snowpack. The times that ensued were full of stormy weather, low visibility, soggy camping, fire, Cody greasebombs, tourons, overwhelming beauty, and an ambitious soda jerk. And fantastic shredding, as they say.

There are some places around here that seem just too good to be true.







A line we call the Rat Trap (N Couloir of Top Notch Peak), after a friend's tumble a few years ago.







Tons of good terrain, all quite close to the road.


Day two delivered a foot of light, wind whipped, winteresque fresh on a rock solid base.





I thought perhaps enchanted forest sessions were done for the year…






Some day I'll go rock climbing again.

Nice man. Love the late season pow stoke! I agree with you - the greater Yellowstone ecosystem is a true gem. I've visited several times in the fall, but never in winter with the splitty. Someday I hope to change that.......thanks for the report

Looks awesome. I splitted sylvan pass a few years ago and have been anxious to get back. Great access and great terrain as you mention. Great work Nick!! Keep bringing the stoke !!
