I haven't been out in a little while and am antsy to hit some bigger lines, as well as Snowsavage... He's always antsy. But because neither of us have been out in a short while I thought it would be good to just go out for a little reconnaissance mission first. So we got an early Alaskan spring start of about 1:00pm. Oh yeh, the weatherman called for mostly cloudy and light snow today too. So off into the woods we went...

following the beautiful Virgin Creek

gingerly stepping over pitfalls and creeks

and avalanche debris



...It's OK though, for the terrain isn't That steep

well, maybe it was a little steep. But we finally made it safely to the ridge

and got a good look back at the little town of Girdwood and surrounding mountains

and Turnagain Arm on the other side

further up the ridge we got a good look at BigLeague for future reference

With just a little furhter to go now

we're finally looking down our line

then one last look at "the arm"

and it's Go Time!

Then we were home by 8:00 and it still wasn't even dark yet. I LOVE spring in Alaska!!! Until next time, I hope we get a bigger line

Nice job boys, wish I could have joined you but alas I sit here in SoCal for a final break before our extended Spring. Big League looks primed and ready Can't wait to get home already

Good eyes Snowvols. I meant to crop that out, oh well.

Things might be filled in, but there is a slight suncrust with hoarfrost on top of it buried just over a foot down on S W and E aspects. Hence the avy debris we crossed. Hoarfrost everywhere and growing too. We'll see...
