Left for climbing way too late at 7 am. Twas a bit slippery skinning so we switched to crampons at the top of The Palmer. How many times can i pose for this same picture?



We went to the left of Crater Rock, bad decision. I know there is a ton of rock and icefall here, but we went anyway. The sun came out strong right when we were all up in there and the temperature jumped alot. We should not have kept climbing. But we did. I got hit pretty hard in the wrist from a piece of falling ice. Here is my buddy Joey topping out.



It was a great view up there though.



The ride down was sketchy and not much fun off the steep headwall. The snow was getting baked and would have avalanched had there been a thicker layer of freshish snow. We should not have been up there.

The ride down the rest of the zig zag was pretty standard for this year, hard ice mixed with a pattern of windblown creating a fun slalom course.

We are supposed to get some fresh stuff up here so hopefully my next TR will be filled with pillow lines and white rooms rather than crampons and rime ice.
