without much new snow, i haven't been able to work up the motivation for any big trips. but it's still good to make an attempt at riding something each weekend.
friday, 2 december, opening day at alpental this slope was in nowhere near the great shape it was in a couple weeks before when brooks and i skinned up here. but that didn't stop me from ducking some ropes to put the first (and second) tracks off this rock right under the lift.
sunday, 11 dec, not expecting to find any snow, russ and i set out to do some recon (and enjoy the ice).
but we soon found ourselves following decent snow up a couloir.
not much pow in the choke...
bit plenty of snow up on the ridge.
dropping in during a window in the fog.
it wasn't all pow, but it was a fun line in way better snow than we expected!
we ran into jason hummel at the bar afterwards; he & his girl reported skiing on ice all day, so i think the fun conditions we found were anomalous (and mostly due to good luck).

nah, i'll probably go out this weekend either way... but i like the idea of having a catch-all TR thread for the little days that don't really deserve a thread of their own. feel free to hijack with your own pics!

for sure! i didn't end up going out this past weekend--too spoiled by all the great early season conditions i guess. i've got all next week off, though, and plan to head out a bunch if we ever get any snow.

Yeah, I didn't get out either, (well snowboarding anyway). Man this is getting me down, still no snow in the forecast through the weekend. Starting on thursday I have through January 2 off so we should hook up (assuming it snows).

Yeah. It's been pretty fun since around the 29th or so. Haven't left Stevens but I'm sure it's been good most everywhere. Didn't take the camera out a whole lot. Kinda hitting the pause and reset today.
