I want to hit that prominent north facing couloir off that ridge, I’m sure you know the one.
Yeah, that's elevator shaft. We looked into it but decided to stay in the sun

The summit looks to be 4,242 ft. and sea level aint very far away from the start elevation, so maybe I started at around 300-500 ft., not sure (maybe D-Green or Jdoniell knows?). I feel as if I skied at least 3,000 vert downhill, and probably closer to 4,000, not totally sure.
Dare I get into another vert discussion Sure Parking lot is about 900' and the descent is about 3000' to the creek.
Hiking out following DGREEN's track a couple years ago ... The prominent peak center right is Kickstep Mtn. and far right is Tincan Peak.
3,000 works for me and seems about right. I never really keep track of these things, but like to think I have a nack for guesstimating. Thanks for letting us know the actual stats.
I am pretty sure I saw you guys looking down into the Elevator Shaft that day. In fact, you are probably one of the little black dots hovering above the couloir in this photo (hard to see but there are a few people there).
I thought you guys were going to drop it, but keeping it southside when the both the sun and the snow were so nice on that aspect was def. the right call. Cant beat making turns in that beautiful sparkling Chugach light. How was your line?
Yeah you might be right, we took a long look into it. I like the image you have from across Center Ridge. Here is a shot looking back at you from the first entrance ...
Snow was blower, we continued up the ridge past the point where it flattens out in your picture and scored. Glide cracks still dominate most of the south face on SB up to the point apex in your image. It was a good day

i thought i woke up and started to read a new tr from savage. now i'm not sure. are these shots a dream? my dream? definitely the stuff of my dreams. you must have thought you were dreaming too at times on that sunny day. great line choice! good job getting in consecutive airs. sounds like that combo of conditions doesn't come along often, and in early season. can't wait to be "living the dream" too. soon.

Brainsteak/Ta Hui - you dudes should cruise up here sometime....the reunion is due soon..
akmooserider - right on, yeah I watched you guys drop into Todd's, looked good. I wanted to get some photos of you guys but was too lazy to break out my camera right there. Watched the 2nd in your group pop off a little slab, nothing major but whereas 2 of you guys stayed off that cross-load to the skiers left the other guy made a big turn right on to that little windload and it ripped out. Not even sure he noticed it. It was small but was a nice example of how certain areas can be more touchy. I decided south facing would be the way to go that day both because it was cold enougth to keep the snow dry and because of that glorious sun! I got a nice line down Todd's in good snow earlier this year. Hope you guys had a good second lap. By the time I got back up there most of it was pretty much skied out. I ended up finding some untracked snow way skiers right but ended up way down the valley and skied the trail back in the dark. Too bad its raining now! But maybe it will still be good. Thanks for the bootpack through that section up to Todd's as well, always helpful to have! Well hope to see you other there again sometime.
