Went up to check out a new area this weekend. I visited this area this summer studying the mountain goats of the area, but had never seen it in winter and could not find many trip reports or beta on the area, especially in winter. So we were a bit unsure what to expect from road conditions to terrain coverage, but we were pleasantly surprised and the trip was a success overall. This is an area with a ton of potential for winter touring and ski/snowboard mountaineering in the right conditions, and from what I can tell it gets relatively little attention. I don't want to go yelling to the whole world about this place, but given the somewhat tricky access in winter I don't feel too guilty sharing with the splitboard community. That being said, I'll spare the spare some of the details so I don't get too harassed. Message me if you want more beta.

We left Bellingham right after the All I Can premier and loaded all that stoke and inspiration into Seth's Subaru and headed North. Got to the TH at 2 or 3am. The approach the next morning was a very pleasant four hour skin with very little elevation gain. Here's the catch: by the time we returned to the car, quite a bit of new snow had fallen and the road to the TH is now likely entirely un-drivable. High elevation trail heads are great, if you time it just right and get lucky but very frustrating otherwise. We got the chained AWD Sub stuck two or three times on the way out but managed some nice in-car-face-shots on the drive out.

Henry and Andy came up the next day to join us, and surprised us by hiking through the night - arriving at the hut at 4:30am. Their full-moon hike in was the only time over the trip that it wasn't dumping snow. Visibility was marginal throughout the trip and we chose to stay off the higher terrain, but the thigh deep powder made it a worthwhile mission. Huge thanks to the Pemberton Wildlife Association and others involved in the re-building of this incredible hut.

Really stoked to explore this beautiful new area, and I hope I can find a reasonable way to get in there mid-winter.

If thats where I think it is I've shredded good pow in october up there .Back in the Snow shoe years.
Seemed like you would never make the effort to get in there in winter, compared to other spots. maybe with sleds to get in.
We had a couple of pretty close calls coming coming off the main peak out the back. We thought our buddy might have died. It was his first trip after moving from ontario. Silly kids playing with thin slabs.
