Crazy amounts of snow in socal mountains this winter. I don't know why it took me so long to realize that San Gorgonio is sooo much cooler than Baldy. Tons of N facing stuff and skinning from the parking lot sure beats the normal cement/dirt slog to the base of the bowl. Ice up top ended our attempt at Gorgo and we settled for multiple descents of 10,800 Charlton Peak. Jepson looked pretty sweet and next time crampons will definitely be part of the pack. We camped at Dollar Lake and on the way out climbed Shields Peak and Alto Diablo Peak, boarding from the summit of Alto Diablo almost all the way back to the S Fork trail head before being bogged down off trail and eventually doing a lot of back tracking before connecting with the trail and finding the car covered in snow. All in all an awesome trip which seemed to only scratch the surface of tons of possibilities around San G!
