Week One.
Old stomping grounds of Vancouver Island, my boy 'J' joined me from Newfoundland. Picked him up in Victoria drove north 4+hrs to Mt. Cain. This hill has a grassroots vibe, locals were great hosts, very friendly and could SHRED!
Rope duckin' off the stacked t-bars opens up some sick terrain:
We had on eyes on the Dream Chute (centre), however, with that recent fracture (right) we were reluctant.
Played it safe in the West and East Bowls:
Is there any limit to Golden Brett's legacy:?
We spent a night in Tofino before a pre-dawn start in the Mckenzie Range; Mt. Klitsa. It's approx. a 1600m climb. The typical route crosses a river over an abandoned forestry bridge, now destroyed by fire (thanks rednecks). So, we gambled on an alternative ascent route.....
Objective:
Yeah, it was raining:
Regretfully, never made our objective, this tour turned into a 16hour slog concluding with a 5km logging road crawl under headlamp. The new route was unfamiliar and made for a few wrong turns, delays and general soggyness and boot-soup discomfort. Nevertheless, we witnessed some nice terrain to shred on a redemption trip.
Unfortunately didn't have the energy to climb this pillow feature:
Week Two:
Not much to report here.... Spent a week in Golden (Kicking Horse) mostly smoking stingers, riding great snow, and watching flicks at the Trouse 'Day-bed Cinema'.
Horse Creek council member 'Poo' catches some air in 'Snoopies':
Week Three:
Hooked up with some friends and ex-lacrosse teammates from Seattle/Portland at Carlyle Hut. There were eight or nine riding tele, I was the lone splitboarder! 70-80cm fell over the first few days, made for sick conditions.
It was deep:

Week Four:
Kickin' it with my grandfather in the Kootenay - He celebrated his 90th birthday by purchasing a new Subaru. No riding this week, just cribbage, conversation, afternoon naps and checking the outside temperature every hour. I did get this pic of some potential on the Skimmerhorn Range... Anyone with information please chime in!
BIG THANKS: To Spark R&D for expediting replacement equipment!!! I never missed a day of riding, professional customer service!
