After conflicting schedules for several weeks a partner and I decided it was time for a bigger line in Togowotee Pass, WY. Our sites were set on Diagonal Couloir. After a 4AM departure, 3.5 hour drive, and a 4 mile slog, we finally made it to the base of our goal.
Looking toward Pinnacle Buttes on the skin in. This is NOT diagonal.
Looking up Daigonal By the time we reached the base it was starting to warm up, but this couloir is shaded and the snow was good.
In the gut
Micah took this picture of me. The guy is an animal setting the boot pack all the way.
Micah a ways above me getting it done!
A view looking down from the summit.
Me, reaching the top.
Micah dropping in.
Time to slay the steep.
The snow was great! Awesome turns!
Micah getting the goods!
The snowfield below was in good shape too!
Time to start the slog back to the car.
Looking back at pinnacle buttes, the obvious couloir in the near middle of this picture is bottle neck classic.
In all we were on the snow for a round trip of 8 miles. It made for a long day but we were rewarded with excellent conditions.
looks like a pretty classic line! very picturesque. i live north of jackson and am always looking for fellow splitters if you're ever interested, be in touch
