yeah go a mac book pro. if you really want windows then just run windows off it (will work seamlessly).
i just picked up a refurbished 15" with the ESSENTIAL anti glare monitor for $1490 + tax. That's the 2.53 proc version (base model mac book pro). I think the dual graphics card versions aren't really worth the hastle, as you have to log out/log on if you want to switch between them. Basically all it is good for is faster renders, but when i'm doing my own work for fun i don't mind waiting.
By the way i work as a visual effects artist and sit behind a 64bit windows box AND 64 bit linux box all day, so i know the benefits of all the different systems for "video/pic viewing abilities".

mac is easy, but pricey, if money is not an issue do a mac for sure. Otherwise get way more power for your money and get a nice Toshiba (best pc reliability laptop) with hdmi out and at least 4gb ram, 500gb hd and core two duo at least if you can swing a quad core do that, and go windows 7 64bit.
