Another FYI: As I was digging through my garage for gear, I unearthed a spare pair of snowshoes I don't need and will sell. Great shoes that easily fit snowboard boots, used only a few times to walk the dog. MSR Denali Classics as at http://thurly.net/0wkt, except yellow. PM if interested, and I'll bring them along to the Fest; otherwise, I'll stick them on Craigslist when I get home.

i've gotten really sick over the past few days and don't think i'll be able to make it up there after all plus i don't want to bring the flu to scrubfest.
That is a bummer.... Can I poach your lines then???? You could always quarantine yourself in a tent outside, we will leave beer, water and saltines next to the tent for you.

Snow is piling up in the Tetons. Grand Targhee (West Side of Tetons) reported 32" in 24 hours on Monday morning. A modest 15" reported on the east slope. Looks like more to come . . . http://www.mountainweather.com/index.ph ... e_forecast High winds in GTNP today. All you scrubs travel safe.

I was at JH today as a warmup to get used to the altitude. Bad weather can make any place suck, and JH is no exception. Snow was very mediocre, despite a recent dumping of over two feet. Visibility near the top was nil, and by nil I mean, "Where are my feet?" caused by >30mph winds and blowing snow. "Down" was difficult to ascertain, but after that top hundred yards, stuff appeared out of the white; then it was just a question of flat light, uneven snowpack, and a couple inches of pow on top of ice. Hmm... Toward the end of the day I found some powder stashes, but I had hopes for something a bit more legendary. Did run into a guy who saw my Prior solid and commented that he has a Prior split, and I encouraged him to come to the Fest this weekend.
Meant to add above that I'm certain the BC has fared better than the resort - not so many damned skiers cutting it up and packing it out. Looking forward to Friday!!
Conditions definitely changing. I will never complain about surfing some powder this weekend in the trees. Small groups will be the key!
Remember to bring your sleeping bags, pads, pillows as not everyone will get a bed (more than enough room with the loft! Towels too and showers are limited. Might be a good idea to bring extra water as the pump sometimes acts up and takes a while to re-fill the well.
Welcome to Wyoming, big mountains, and some Cowboy Pow! Playin' it safe this weekend will be essential! Check the avi conditions at: http://www.jhavalanche.org/advisories.php

DON'T SHOWER IN THE A-FRAME! RUNNING OUT OF WATER SUCKS!
Trevor and I will be hitting Togwotee late tomorrow night and crashing in the shed next to the trailers. Would be STOKED if someone put on some hot water for me Friday morning for a cup of java.
Been amped reading about the mellow avy conditions for the past month but alas, snowpack is fickle. Lots of snow means lots of pow and I do enjoy riding trees, but dang I tell ya' I was hoping for a 4,000 foot line in the Tetons. We'll see, we'll see.
Jer - Do you need me to bring my copy of "Deeper"?
