I experience similar issues with large Burners and a DL/Spark boot size 11. The boot has a lot going for it, especially for a 1.0 version, but why they're so abnormally long and bulky I don't know.

I became so frustrated with the Deeluxe boots that I ordered a set of Mlamutes and Driver X's for comparison. The Deeluxe's were slightly longer than the malamutes. However, the Driver X's were quite a bit shorter than both the malamutes as well as the Deeluxes, so I ended up going with the Driver X's. Very happy with them. No toe or heel drag (which was not my main issue with the Deeluxe) and more importantly, no toe bang while touring. I forgot to take pics to compare them all, but a rough estimate was the Deeluxe at ~1cm longer than the Malamutes, and 1.25"-1.5" longer than the Driver X.
