Overtightening will strip out the holes but in this situation is a scapegoat for that type of failure imho.
It broke because its aluminum and aluminum cracks when subject to repeated stress. It broke right at the weakest point, needs to be beefier if its gonna be a light brittle metal like aluminum.

but there is a fact: - with voilè brackests I've done about 150 trips, in all conditions, also little descents, without any probelm - with spark brackets I've done about 7-8 trips, ok... 3-4 in heavy conditions, and they crashed as you saw....
