Hello out there!!
I got a hold of a set of Sparks R&D Tesla Afterburner bindings on a Hovercraft Split and have had them on quite a few trips already and they've proven pretty nuke-proof. The setup rocks! On my last climb, however, I noticed I couldn't take one of the bindings off in climb mode without knifing out some packed/heavy snow which iced up as expected. I was able to get the binding on and ride out (gingerly) with a toe lock that wouldn't go back into place. I figured it was a snow-jam problem until I let it all thaw out and noticed that there's metal-on-metal contact with at least 2mm of overlap and no way the toe lock will secure down as designed. I don't know what/if any warrantee will cover this and from the sounds of things stocks are sold out already so getting replacements or parts seems unlikely. Has anyone out there had a similar issue with the tesla toe lock? Figure a grinding tool will fix but wonder if there's a less irreversible solution.

thanks!

Just curious: what metal on what metal, in regards to the 2mm overlap?

@philip.ak-

the aft edge of the hinged metal toe clip overlaps with front part of the baseplate. This keeps the screwed-on plastic toe clip from locking into place in either the climb mode, ride mode, and even sitting by itself

Interesting. I just looked at ours, and there is a 1-2mm gap between the aft edge of the toe ramp and the fore edge of the base plate. Can't see how it could get pushed back in a way where they would overlap. The toe ramp also sits slightly above the base plate, and I could see how it could get bent down in the middle and overlap, but still not get pushed backwards to overlap. Hmmm... :scratch:

Get in touch with Spark, they will take care of ya if it's a warranty issue. Still curious to see a pic. Tried the link, no luck.
