Hey,
I am looking to possibly get my mom a new point and shoot digital as hers is old and she would like to get a new one. She likes Cannon so probably a Cannon it would be for her. I am not familiar with Canon so was looking for any input you guys might have. Looking to get something fairly simple (she'll mainly use the auto features, also needs to have a view finder and also has good zoom. I know the G9 & 10 are supposed to be great but something along that line is more than she needs. Thanks for any input good or bad.

I've been using Canon SD models for years, and they work great. Bought an extra battery off ebay, and I rigged up a system using a Timbuk2 iPod case and one of those ski pass holders with the retractable cord, to provide easy access and prevent it from disappearing if I drop it:
This has worked great, but it's not a waterproof setup (hasn't been a problem yet FWIW). I'm really interested in checking out the new waterproof/shockproof D10:
