Ya'll probably know, but the conditions are downright scary out there. I was sledding/touring around Hebgen lake today and we had multiple(>4) whoomping/collapsing. We knew the avy danger was high and that a sledder had been killed near lionhead the day before. We planned on some serious low angle tree skiing. The slopes we were on were less than 30 degrees. Our pit results confirmed what we were hearing. CT's less than 10 and Q1 shears. The worst layer is about 18 inches down and forms a cohesive slab. we ended up riding out right near our skin track. I wouldn't advise getting on any significant slopes for a while. I don't think this layer is going anywhere anytime soon and we have a ridge of high pressure coming, Yay surface hoar!

Come on down to Jackson. We just went through a melt - freeze cycle. Now its snowing again. There is soft snow in the steep north facing trees and dust on concrete on the open slopes. There has been soft snow in the tree shots in GTNP.We have come down to low danger for the first time this season.
