west faces were still crusty but brakeable. South and east faces were nice with 6-8 on a crust above 1800 ft + -, Below that, it gets thinner with open water and spruce traps, about 2-3 on a crust.
was only my first tour of the season.. got back at 7pm to an almost worried wife, riding with a headlamp. Kicked my ass.

I got called a stupid snowboarder by a ten your old kid trying to plow me over in the woods today. So what if he's better than me? I hate presidents day, I hate crowds, and I hate mouthy little kids. Normally I'm pretty happy! Think I will be hitting the backside on the splitty the next two days!

Yea I was at smuggs today. Yesterday we jumped on the cat trail behind Nordic barn. Skinned up pipeline. Snow was awful at that elevation. I'd say right around 2000. The trail was iced over and surrounding woods looked susPect. But got some turns none the less. The sun was out and temps near 30. Birds were out. It was a good day. We too didn't get back to the truck till nearly seven but it was cool to watch the horse sleighs cross the field in the moon light.
still found a nice 5-6" of dry goods up high today, seems like only the highest elevation north facing glades are holding the real goods anymore. looking at 24-36" bases in most areas except highest ridgelines w/ prolly ~40".

For sure VT. That line looks tasty..We both have half days tomorrow, (wed. 22). Think we will get out and tour somewhere. I just picked up the Stowe area bc. map and I've been eyeing a couple places. Also been wanting to hit up birthday bowls at Smuggs.
